Michael Bastian - Love Story

Just pure beauty!!

This film put together by genius Michael Bastian for Gant showcases their SS11 collection in a pure and passionate way.

Michael Bastians collection of menswear for Gant has been received extremely well by the male fashion followers.

Interview from Vogue.com where Bastian discusses his collaboration with Gant

Bastian's work for Gant provides two things to the public: a chance to purchase a piece of Bastian's classic, well-tailored goods at a lower price-point and to see the menswear designer's take on womenswear. "I always feel like the Michael Bastian guy is more of a connoisseur," he explained, surveying the models for stray pieces of fuzz that could ruin an otherwise perfect presentation. "The Gant guy is a lot more straightforward in his motivations. He just wants to look good when we wakes up in the morning. I'd like to say they're brothers, but they're different guys. Maybe the Gant guy will grow into the Michael Bastian guy, but right now he just wants to look good and get the girl's number at the bar."

Bastian basically creates the perfect starting out wardrobe for guys: a dark blue suit, a khaki suit, polos and button-downs galore, a denim jacket and a killer rain slicker are all must-haves. He also indulges his more flamboyant side as well with a madras blazer, some tightly cropped mid-thigh shorts and a shawl-collared smoking jacket - a Hugh Hefner moment. Girls have a mix of menswear flourishes, like the slender ladies' short-suit, and a mix of athletic inspired pieces like a rugby shirtdress and distressed patchwork denim, which are cute and tomboyish in a classic way.
The true genius behind the partnership is that Gant gets the benefit of a high-end designer to boost visibility and Michael gets, in addition to a nice chunk of change, the chance to disseminate his work to those who may not be able to otherwise afford it. There's nothing we like more than a fashion win-win.
